Our Altalena Collection is inspired by the beautiful confluence of Roman and Moorish influences found in ancient Spanish cities like Alhambra and Sevilla. Traditionally, Altalena is shown on our rustic Light Travertine. A great alternative, with a more modern feel, is to order it on our straight edged limestone, shown below. Other patterns that look beautiful on limestone are listed below as well. Please Enjoy!

Quick preview of what we are working on.  

If it weren't for the potential kidnapping charges, we'd lock the doors and not let the design team leave until they finish all of these beautiful new collections.  They are doing an excellent job!  We are very, very close to finalizing.

Once again, we give you a sneak peek into a couple of new designs that we are developing.  We'd love to hear what you think!   After looking at the pictures, give us your feedback by clicking on the Comments tag below this post.

Some of the things we would like to know:

Love it?  

You think that this design is so amazing, you are going to start demo on your house right this minute, just so you'll have an excuse to use some of our tile.

Hate it?  

You can't stand to look at it and you are going to fly to San Diego today, just so you can come into our Design Department and smash all of these tiles to pieces.

Where do you see these designs working?  

Kitchen backsplash?

Master bath?

Flooring?

In your jail cell, after you have come to smash our tiles?

What color choices would you like to see us offer for these designs?

We have a great deal of flexibility with color, so almost anything is possible.

And give us as much "I like this, but...." as you want.

We can take it.  (And if it gets too intense, we can always go into the back room and start smashing tiles - very cathartic on a Friday afternoon.)

Design With Us

Welcome to our very first Design with Us! We hope to make this a regular feature on our blog.

Our design team is constantly coming up with new designs for our tiles. We go through our own selection process to determine which ones will make it into our product line. Our process usually includes lots of meetings, many lively discussions, experiments with size and color, and reprint, reprint, reprint. We get so invested in our creations that it can be difficult to choose the winners and losers. It is like trying to decide which of our children is our favorite!

When we do add items to our product line, sometimes the designs that we absolutely love hardly sell. And there are always those surprises - the designs that just take off from the very first day, even though it had not been one of our favorites.

This blog is a great way for us to share our design process and get feedback on potential new designs. We would love to hear what you think of these prototype designs and we are ready for any and all comments.

GOLD TONE DESIGNS

Notice that these tiles have a three dimensional look to them, but they are not etched or carved in the stone. It is our normal printing process and the surface of the tiles are flat.
